This is created out of the former burial ground of St. George's church in Hanover Square, and named after the Mount Field, an area including a fortification dating from the English Civil War named Oliver's Mount. In 1854, an Act of Parliament was passed by which burial grounds in central London , such as that of St. George's , were to be closed due to health risks.
