Haute Shopping |
 |
To appease the spender inside everyone, London is rightfully bedecked with higher-end shopping districts. These districts are not for the faint of heart, as a single shopping session can severely drain one's resources. But then again, in some circles, fashion goes before food...
Knightsbridge is among the foremost in classy shopping districts. This is the home of Harrod 's and Harvey Nichols , London 's world-famous department stores. Harrod 's has six humongous floors, so it's easy to get caught up in a rapture exploring every single department in this behemoth of a store. Nearby, Harvey Nichols pays homage to names such as Versace, Calvin Klein, and Ralph Lauren. Those whose hearts beat for fashion will find every clothing need fulfilled by the leading designers, and then a few not-so-famous-yet.
From Knightsbridge, it's a short trip to Sloane Street and more big fashion names, such as Christian Dior, Valentino, and Prada. Down Sloane Street is Sloane Square. A key feature is of the square is Peter Jones, a low-profile but classy and sassy department store. Shoppers are advised to be on the lookout here as great bargains can still be found.
Shoppers should not fail to visit King's Road. This is a hustling and bustling road that cuts through the heart of Chelsea. It became a hotbed of fashion in the 90s and is home to a good number of antique shops, not to mention boutiques. Though many consider the shops to be smaller versions of the outlets in Knightsbridge, King's Road has a more laidback feel.
After the bustle of King's Road, Sloane Avenue is often the final stop after a day of hardcore shopping. This is a tree lined road just up Anderson Street from King's Road. There are several stylish shops to be found, and Walton Street lies just east of Sloane Avenue , a small community of art galleries and antique shops.
