The Foundling Hospital Museum is one of London 's best hidden treasures. The Foundling Hospital was established in 1739 as London 's first hospital for abandoned children. In 1998, The Foundling Museum was set up to house the important art collection of the hospital. The Museum recounts the story of the Foundling Hospital and examines the work of its founder Thomas Coram , the artist William Hogarth , and the German baroque composer George Frideric Handel . The museum interior features the original Rococo interiors from the Foundling Hospital, as well as a mix of architectural styles from the 1930s and today, making the museum a state-of-the-art amalgamation of old and new architecture.
