Tate Modern is one of the Tate Gallery , along with Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool , and Tate St. Ives . It is Britain's new national museum dedicated to modern art in London . The gallery resides in the former Bankside Power Station building, which was closed in 1981 and converted for the museum's purposes. The museum opened in the year 2000 and has become a very popular destination for locals and tourists.
Tate Modern pays homage to various forms of modern and contemporary art from 1900 to the present day. On display are prominent works including those by Henri Matisse, Salvador Dali, and Pablo Picasso.
