Beaches

Unfortunately, London is not known for its beaches. In fact, the closest thing to a sea, sand, and surf experience is the foreshore of the Thames River. Today, the Thames foreshore poses as a makeshift beach, but that should not deter tourists and sightseers from catching a little bit of sunshine and the salty sea air. Interestingly, in the 1930s, the Thames River foreshore was used as a real beach right across the Tower Bridge. At the time, hundreds and even thousands of Londoners would flock to the beach that was London 's very own virtual seaside. Today, areas of the banks of the Thames are slowly being reclaimed, cleaned up, and modified to turn them back into fun and wholesome places of enjoyment for Londoners.
