Sir John Soane’s Museum

Meet Sir John Soane (1753-1837), the designer of the Bank of England and The Dulwich Picture Gallery. Meet him through his very own place, which he left as a museum to the nation in 1837. This is his amazing house which is way much bigger than it looks from the outside. In this marvelous man s abode is a home crammed with statues and works of art.
Situated in the house he both built and lived in, the museum contains his collection of paintings, statues and furniture that is unchanged since he lived there. Among the many interesting items in the museum are the original plans for the Law Courts and the Houses of Parliament. It is closed on Bank holidays and admission is free.
