Madame Tussauds

This is the place where your fantasies are recreated in to wax, and you can even play with them in reality. This is the famous waxworks started by Madame Tussaud in 1835 and is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in London .

Historically, before Madame Tussaud had established herself in London , her collection of wax figures toured all around the country in wagons and caravans. Her collection of relics from the French Revolution, alongside portraits of torturers, villains and murderers, where a hit to the visiting public.

Among the many fabulous features here include a colorful story of Britain's capital city in cars specially designed to resemble London taxicabs. The cars were made by the same company who build real London taxis. This is 'The Spirit of London ', an exhibition which covers a period of more than 400 years and spans London 's history from Elizabethan times to the present day. This exhibit certainly captures the spirit of London ! Over 70 figures are involved in 'The Spirit of London ' many of which are animated and fused with a host of special effects.

Added to this, to protect certain persons of a delicate temperament, there used to be a 'Separate Room' for the collection of unsavory characters that were kept distinct from the rest of the exhibition. In 1846 the satirical magazine, Punch, coined the term 'Chamber of Horrors' for this room. The Chamber of Horrors is the home of many notorious figures such as Jack the Ripper.

There is also the Grand Hall where you will find all kinds of celebrities like Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson and Mandela.
The famous Madame Tussauds receive over two million visitors a year. This is the home of wax models of the famous and the infamous. New models are being produced all the time with regular updates. On the other hand, have-beens are quietly removed from display and put into storage. The wax models are masterpieces of sculptors how make precise measurements and photographs of their subject's form from every possible angle.
